Day 0 - The Prequel to the 2014 Brews of Christmas

And so, it begins...

Welcome to the eve of the beginning of the 25 Beers of Christmas, the 2014 edition!  It is with great pride and pleasure that I am able to critique a few new and select brews from many various breweries again in this blog format.  I promise you, it will be very informal.  I will attempt to sound like a beer snob.  Sometimes I will succeed.  Sometimes I will fail.  Sometimes I will make you wonder if I know what I am talking about.  I promise you that at least one of the previous statements is true.  It's up to you to decide!  If you're impatient, see what I had to say during my stint in 2013!

I have taken the liberty, since our house is now fully decorated for the Christmas holiday, of creating a poem for you based on what I plan to do this year throughout the month of December.  I started with the intention of basing it after the Clement Clark Moore poem, The Night Before Christmas.  However, I got bored with following the form too closely so you get my loose interpretation of the original intent while substituting beer and beer terminology throughout.  Enjoy!

Twas the night before beer-mas, and inside the refrigerator
All of the beers were chilling to be taste-tested later.

The beers were placed in the fridge with care
In hopes that the blogger soon would be there.

The tasting glasses were nestled, clean, in the kitchen,
The specialty glassware is ready for its mission.

The family is asleep as I sit with a glass,
Just tapped from my kegerator, waiting for time to pass.

The beers, twenty-five, if I called them by name,
Would make this poem too long and you'd regret that you came.

So, on Bell’s, on DuClaw, Troegs and Southern Tier,
On Saranac, on Left Hand, and 2 Brothers that make beer.

Dogfish Head, Founders, even the not-so-well known brewer,
They all will be taste-tasted by this intrepid reviewer.

IPAs, Ales, Winter Warmers with clove and allspice,
Barleywines, Stouts, Tripels; now, those styles all taste nice!

Bottles, Bombers, and maybe a Growler, it’s true,
These trusty vessels made to carry a quality brew.

Bookmark on your computer or mobile device,
Read my comments, critiques, and take my advice!

But, if not, no worries, I'm no connoisseur,
Heck, you may think my reviews are full of manure.

Twenty-five will be tasted, just not in one flight,
Merry Beer-Mas to all, and I'll see you tomorrow night!

The selection...a few extras were added just in case...maybe we'll span the entire 31 days...

25 Brews of Christmas Round 2

Last year was quite the success so I figured why not give it a go again this year? So I am pleased to announce (to my 5 or 6 followers) that I will be doing my 25 Brews of Christmas again in 2014!

The only guideline, other than obviously reviewing and blogging a beer a day, is to not repeat any beers that were on the list from last year!

There will be beers from Troegs, Founder's, Spring House,  Dogfish Head,  and many many more! Stay tuned and subscribe to get the latest on my thoughts on each brew!

Cheers!
